Prior to the business of the Magistrate's Court commencing yesterday morning Mr. G. _H. Harper, on behalf of the local solicitors, extended a hearty w'elcome'ttp the newly-appointed magistrate, Mr. Poynton. Mr. Poynton Teplied he'had heard of tho good relationship existing between the late magistrate ,and solicitors, and expressed a hope that it would continue. At the-monthly meeting of : the Town Board on Thursday afternoon, Commissioner M'Kegg presiding, it was decided to interview tho trustees of the Mission Church property with a view of having their lands roaded so as to give access.to a stretch of beach, it being pointed out •that it was tho trustees' intention to road (in less than two years' time) tho whole of their property comprising' over 500 acres, now leased to Mr. Death. Commissioner Brien stated his intention of reading his property whioh adjoined on the 6eaward side. The questionable state of a creek which runs through the town was tho subject of a good deal of unfavourable comment. It was! decided to obtain an adjustment of accounts as between the board, council, and Road Board at as early.a date as possible. It was also resolved to securo a new locality plan, the present one being antiquated.

The monthly meetdng of tho Fcatherston County Council was held yesterday, Councillor A. D. M'Lcod being in tho chair. Tho receipts for the month wero given a 9 £2024 2s. 9d.
