HUTT ROAD TALLY. 1 COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. Summaries of the tally of traffio taken by the Railway Department for > three weeks in October last have now been supplied by the Commissioner, Mr. W. S. Short, .to the representatives of the .various .parties concerned in this matter. "These summaries," states tho , Commissioner, "disclose that during that time the road wag used, wholly or partly, 26,505 times, by - vehicles, motors, cycles, and other traffio, not including pedestrians. This use of the road is found, Upon careful analysis, to be equal to a use of the whole road ,by 12,361. vehicles, motors, etc., and: the result thus obtained shows that tho proportionate use of the whole road by or for the purpose of the inhabitants of tho dfstriots, which, in terms of the Hutt Railway and Road Improvement Amendment Act, 1911, must contribute to its cost, is tvs follows;— Percentage ■ of ... In addition to the vehicular, motor, and'other traffic, the road.-was .used to . a greater or lesser extent by 17,031. pedestrians,- but this' does /not, include ; people who - merely crossed the road, .or who .used it ,to. an inappreciable extent.
