Captain Ritsoher, who belonged to the party preceding the'_ Sohroeder-Strantz German expedition,: -thich is starting next June in an endeavour to make the' North-East Passage,' has arrived at Advent Bay, Spitzbergen, after Buffering terrible hardships. He reports that his companions are starving on tho Northern Coast in tho last stages' of. scurvy. They Bent him and two others to* seek help, but he left his comrades exhausted, from cold and hunger in Wyde Day. Captain Ritsoher says he twice esoaped death by a dog jesouing him when the ice had yielded under him. He ate the. last tallow candle pn Christmas Day. On arriving, his clothes had to be cut off his body, and,his feet were frozen. A relief, expedition h&s beon sent.
