MEAT FOR FRANCE
' At the'instance of M. Lucien Noponaire, tho' well-known French wioM-buyer, a trial ,shipment of New >sealaud meat to France 'is likely to be'nude in March next. M. IS'openaire is of opinion that, after the favourable impression .created by the New Zealand meat shown at the Roubaix. exhibition, the projected shipment will do well. He' has made arrangements with a few of the Hawke's Br.y. .and fouthern farmers to combine, for 'tho feial consignment, and the car- 11 cases will \')B frozen - in . the manner required by the French : authorities, viz., leaving .tho heart, lungs, and liver ; in the carcass. The marketing of the shipment will 1 be under M. Nonenaire's personal care. The'only obstacle in the way of the, experiment so far is the fact flat there is no direct steam service between New Zealand and France, ,ond the experimental consignment will be too smAll to warrant a special call being made at a French port. Efforts, however, are being "made to overcome, this difficulty. •
