Brunton 4.45 The sale of the'main lots should be over, by about 5.15 p.m. It must. be understood that the hours given abovo are. purely estimates; if the sale goes with a swing the end may oomo earlier; oh the other hand, if tfcoro are many delays or Intervals tho starting hours of tho respective auctioneers will vairy from those given above. Tho "star", lots will bo taken in tho evening. Between 60 and 70 buyers, representatives of Yorkshire, Germany, France, America, and New Zealand will be in attendance, besides a. few speculators in wool, and bidding is expected' to bo brisk. Values will of course be fcigher than they were aV tho January sale of last year, but they are not likely to be higher than tho prices realised last month, and disappointment may await growers who have become imbued with inflated ideas of tho wool market. A fair quantity of shabby wool will bo marketed- to-day, and also wool heavier in grease than was the case at tho December sales. The reserves fixed by some of the growers are in Bome cases said to be very high and somewhat out of propor-, tion to the true value 'of tho staple. TRADE UJ AIiLEN STREET, Vegetables.—Oabbages arc in rather short supply, and excellent prices are being obtained for all choice samples coming on the market. Carrots and parsnips nro eclling well, and consignments can bo recommended. Lettuces being in-heavy Bupply, values have declined considerably. French beans aro in very good domand. « Fruit,—The Tahiti, which arrive from San Francisco and Rarotonga. last week, brought consignments of Californion oranges ana anplcs, also bananas from tho Islands. Tho bananas met with poor sale owing to so much stone fruit being available. Iloavy supplies of pearlies nro coming forward almost daily from Hawko s ' Bay, and -Motucka districts. , Raspberries in 'buckets arc coming In .more freely from Jtotueka, and increased sunplics of tomatoes aro available.
