GREAT GATHERING IN STDNET. By Telecraiih—Press Assoolatlon-Oopyxtght (Reo. January 7, 11/40 p.m.) Melbourne, January 7. The Melbourne Congress of the Australasian. Association for the Advancement of Science has been opened at the University. It is being attended by SGO delegates. Sectional committees have been appointed. Professor Kirk, of Wellington, has been chosen to bo president of the biology section; Mr. T. Mackonzio, of Wellington, to bo president of the geography and history section; and Dr. Valintine, of Wellington, to preside.'over the sanitary science and hygiene section. In the afternoon Professor David, of Sydney University, president-elect of the association, gave a reception ami tea, and in tho evening Professor David delivered his presidential address beforo a largo and brilliant, gathering at tho Wilson Hall.
