LADIES' "SEAGULL" CLUB. , The Ladies' "Seagull" Amateur Swimming Club opened their season on Saturday afternoon at the To Aro Baths, when they decided two races—(l) 100 yards handicap medley race, namely 50 yards breast and 50 yards back strokes. This resulted in a win for little Miss Mary DauV ney (60sec.), Miss T. Daubney (55seq.), being second, and Miss Olive Arthur (scr.), third. Miss Nona Butler (45sec.) also competed. It was a good race, a yard . between tach. competitor. A 50 yards handicap race was also got off. This resulted in,a win for Miss Tottie Daubney (28sec), with ,Miss M. Daubney (21sec.) 2, and Miss O. "Arthur (scr.), 3. Also started: Misses M. Nolan- (JOsec.) and M; Butler (22see.). This also was a splendid race, each of the placed competitors winning from the other by a touch,'a yard separating other competitors. ' Miss T. Daubney gains Messrs. F. and G. Castles's trophy and Miss M. Daubney wins Mr. H. Langdon's- A points'trophy was given to the club this season by Dr. Daisy Platts-Mills, to encourage members to enter for all races. Five points are given for first, four for second, three for third; two points are given for all competitors that finish, and one point for starters only. Misses T. and M. Daubney are in the lead, with nine points each, and Miss O. Arthur is second with six points. Others are: Miss M. Butler four points, and Miss M. Nolan two points; .
