(From Our, Special Correspondent.). ' , Masterton; January 0. % Another fine! downpour of rain ocourrcd in this district-last night and this morning. Following upon the rain of last week, it .will furnish all tho sustonance required for pastures and crops, and will ensure bright prospects for the autumn. The results ;of tho milk tests for the month of December, conduotcd under tho auspices of the,' Masterton' Cow-testing Association, are just to hand. In tho herd averages tho highest figures werot—No. 1: 13001b. milk, test 4, butter-fat 54.5; No. 2; 10471b. milk test 4.1, butter-fat 42.4; No. 3: 0031b., test 3.7, butter-fat 37. ■ Dr. Sprott, Bishop of Wellington, conducted a service in tho Churoh of tho Epiphany at Kuripuni to-night. Bishop Sprott is on a pastoral visit to the district.- .1 A number of those prominently associated with tho petroleum industry in Tarannki visited the Mangaone oil-wells; today, and were shown over the works by Mr. F. Cassin, the managing director. : "Tho schedules for the next show of tho Masterton A. and P. Association are now being issued. A number of now and interesting features have been added' to the schedule this year. At a special meeting of the directors of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society, held °n Saturday last, an interim balancesheet for the recent sports meeting was presented. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to i all who had assisted in making the gathering a success, It was notified that Mr. .Tohn.Hessoy had offered four medals, in addition to a shield, for competition in the ambulance events, i •Messrs. W. Gillespie and B. E. Rayner leave for Blenheim tomorrow to represent tho local athletic clubs.at the.annual atliletio conference. The total rainfall registered here for tho month of December was 88 points, compared with 5.81 inches for the same month in the previous/year.
