JUJU RITES

Advioes from Southern Nigeria report that tho British Commissioner has stamped out a recrudescence of tho Juju rites. Several ohief priests were condemned to:death, but the Chief Kanuckuru, the arch.-conspirator, escapod with thrco years' imprisonment, owing to tiio inability of the to fasten the murder phargo upon him. Three thousand slaves, in:ended victims of the Juju, were found '- hidden near Kanuckuru's compound. Kanuckuru amassed hnlf a million sterling from tho slave traffic.
