The "reply ■received to that offer was to the effect that ss. per day 'per man, was required, in view ;«f the fact that a strong; eleven of wellknown players -was practically assured. ; The New Zealand: Council acceded to that request,, though it somewhat upset the financial arrangements, already made. .A further request was received * from the New South Wales Association for an additional ,£6O. for washing and "tips," which 'the council could not comply with. : . .
