This suggestion was carried out, and. an offer on .those lines, iriade by the New Zealand Council to the New. South -Wales Association. The "reply ■received to that offer was to the effect that ss. per day 'per man, was required, in view ;«f the fact that a strong; eleven of wellknown players -was practically assured. ; The New Zealand: Council acceded to that request,, though it somewhat upset the financial arrangements, already made. .A further request was received * from the New South Wales Association for an additional ,£6O. for washing and "tips," which 'the council could not comply with. : . . Briefly;, the Neiv Sonth' Wales, executive undoubtedly gave an understanding that iteam.,would be.'knt' if tra:velling arid hotel expanses and 2s. Gd. per man per ' day was offered by the- New- Zealand Council; Subsequently they requested a further 2s.' 6d. per man per day, and when, that [was agreed, to by the New. Council a demand for a furthfir iEGO was made'.
