The local volunteer fire brigade desire ito thank Mr. G. Warrington frfr the donation. of £2 2s. in recognition of the brigade's services at the recent fire at Belvedere, and Mi'. E. Bairstow for a donation of £2 in recognition of the services of the brigade at the recent fire at Clareville. The brigade also desire to thank Mr. W.. Tucker . for the donation of a. gold inedal for competition amongst tho. members. , During 'the past: njonth the Wairarapa South County - Council ranger, impounded fifteen horses and fifty-four head of cattle. Calrterton was extremely/orderly during the holidays, although a. "wet'.' district adjoining, a "dry" oiie. Only one offender was ; arrested for drunkenness.
