Among the . clergymen present were representatives .from.'Wajrarapa, Jahiatua, Napier/ Hastings, Dannevirke, Palmerston North, Foxton, Taihape, and, "Wellington; At -10.80 Solemn Requiem Mass was held at St, Mary's Church, Dean Regnault (Provincial) "being the celebrant; "with Dean Jas. Kenna as Deacon, Father Maillnrd sub-Deacon, and Father Hnrley as Master of . Ceremonies. There were also present in the sanctuary: Dean Jas. M'Ksnna,, Dean Jno. M'Kenna, Dean Holley, Dean Smyth, Dean O'Shea, V.G., Archdeacon Devoy, Fathers Vibrand, Maillard. Ke- • hoe. • Keogh,;' JDoolaghtv,'. Kelly,;■ Rowe, M'Kenna, BarraV Schaefer, Ginisty, Melu, Hickson, Herrine, Monard, Rev. . Dr. j .'Martin, Rev.\ Dr. Kennedy, Fathers O'Reilly; and 'Murray. ' The choir, under Dr. Kennedy (director of. St.-Patrick's College) chanted t\e "Gregorium.'' Father Schaefer presided it the organ. , The order of. proc'tssion for the fiineral was: Children of Mftry. Sisters., of the Convent,' Hibernian '.Society (a strong V' bodyV'in regalia), the v clergy (between . . thirty' aid forty in number), the coffin (borne on the shoulders ot Natives).. Then followed the general body'tof mourners. The Rev. Father Cognet. was fifty-five <years of age. He came , to' New Zealand about twenty-five years ago, irqm France, and-first went to Jerusalem, \p the Wanganui' River.
