The London "Daily Chronicle" enumerates 551 horses that got away badly during the 1912 flat racing season, apart from the number lricked at the post. The system of starting the horses from a stand, in conjunction with a startinggate, the "Chronicle" considers, lias been a failure, and urges the Jockey Clubs to test the walk-up-to-the-gate system of starting.
