An enjoyable progressive pairs tournament was played on the 'Wellington Club's green last evening on a new system devised by 3lr. Bamett of Christchurch. In this game the "skins" are distinguished by, a letter, and the "leads" by a number, and by an ingenious arrangements a combination n,e'vcr by any chance met twice. Gaines of ten heads were played. The tournament will be completed this evening. ■
