WANGANUI'S WIN.
(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, December 26. The annual representative match be-tween.-the senior elevens of North Taranaki and Wanganui, which commenced yesterday on Cook's Gardens, concluded to-day, Wanganui winning by ten wickets. The visitors, who won tho toss, sent Wanganui in to bat on a good wicket. The local team batted well, and scored 257, towards which Orton. raado 65 in fine stj'le. Bathgate 45, Murchie 36, Fume 29, and Tracy 24 were the other double-figure scorers. Sarten (five for 41) did best for the visitors with the ball. North Taranaki replied with 124 in their first innings. Going in again, they did much better, and were not disposed of until 261 were on the board.
This left Wanganui wit.h 129 to get to win, and with about two hours to play. Ortpn and Murchie were the first batsmen, and, aided by weak bowling and slack fielding, put together the necessary runs, Wanganui thus winning by ten wickets. Orton batted well, compiling 82 in very short order, while Murchie also shaped well -for 42.
