t-angu-ay am! Cocoon showed the way over'the first hurdle, but'tkc latter blundered badly and lost its rider at tho fence. At the bottom of the straight Gangway swerved badly, and, bumping into Captain Wood, fell. At tho milo post Simon Pure had drawn away from Captain Wood, while Bay Lupin was eight or niuo lengths further back. Simon Pure held his own easily, and -won by twelve lengths, with May Lupin twenty lengths further back. Time, 3min. 26sec. SALISBURY HANDICAP, of 100. sots.

From n good start Martian Maid took charge before reaching tho six-furlong post, closely attended by Thrax, with Oratava, Kimona, and Carolus next. The Cornet was badly left at the start. Parable led out of tiio straight from Medallist, followed by True Knight and My Lawyer. Entering tho back stretch, Troon, ran into second place, a length behind Parable, with True Knight close up, 'while Tannhauser was last. At the far turn Troon was just showing clear of Parable, with True Knight and Medallist two lengths away. Tannhauser moved up third before reaching the straight, and, putting in a run, got to tho leaders at the half-distance. On being 6haken up, Parable came away, and won by a length and a. half. Optimcform, Dan Cameron, and Gartose were the first out from an indifferent s-tart, and ran to-the five-furlong post five lengths clear of tho field, which was strung out. Owhetoro improved his position as the horses swung into the straight, Foam Flake also coming on. The latter took charge inside tho distance, and, stalling off Owhetoro, won by half a length, with Optimeform two lengths away third. Time, lmin. 31 2-ssec. Thistledown was left at the start, and Redivin and Kostroma got badly away. Sea King, Pilgrim's Way, Palisade, and Obsono were leading immediately after the start just clear of Gapoh. Turning into the straight. Pilgrim's Way and Sea King were just clear of Obsono. Insido the distance Gapon got a lucky- opening on tho rails, and joining Pilgrim's Way, won by a short nose with Obsono a length and a half away. Time, lmin. 15see.
