TRACK, WATCH, AND NOTES.
FROM KLLKKSLIK. (Uy IWcirraph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, December 23. The "Star's" sporting writer to-day rays:—Tho weather v.-a« perfect for training operations at Ellerslie lliis morning, and n large number of liorws ivcro exercised, tlu» majority being confined 'to useful tasks, with an occasional sprint home of a couple of furlongs. Practically all the work was registered on tho tan, which is proving a great boon during the dry weather, Ko.val Soult was the first to work, covering a couple of rounds of tho tan, the first at half-pace, and the second in 2min. 0 .l-.lscc. Royal Soult moved scratchily, and did not appear to walk away as freely as on Saturday. R. O'Doniiell's team—Los Angelos, Bon Revo, Hon Ton, Culprit, and Oxonhopc— did strong half to three-quarter pace work on tho tan. Hcathcrbrae and Brown Owl wcro associated in a gallop over seven furlongs on the tan, which they left behind in lmin.' 39 2-Sscc. Bloriot and Waiorowa galloped six fuxlongs, the last four taking 55 2-ssec, with Illcriot going the better at the finish. Neither, however, was doing its best. Ruatangala, with the assistance of Merry Xinas over tho last (ivo furlongs, galloped a mile on the sand, running the last seven furlongs in lmin. 30scc. The Hague and Landrail, which have been suffering from minor ailments sinco their arrival, spurted a couplo of furlongs —tho first fast work which they kavo done. Ventura (alone) spurted over four furlongs on the sand in 51poc, her stable companion Jason taking 51 3-ssec. for a similar distance. After breakfast Master Wairiki spurted over four furlongs on the grass in 53 2-5 sec.,, and a host of others also exercised. Golden Loop and Koran were schooled over three hurdles, the latter giving tho better display. R. Hnnnon. reached Ellerslie on Saturday with- Ruse do Guerre, Tinopai, Semolina, and Soldier. Ruse do Guerre is suffering from a sore, and will not bo seen out at the meeting. ■By the Rarawa, which arrived yesterday, AVaterworks and, Kelp were brought to Auckland, the former being engaged at Ellerslie, and the latter at the Thames. Ngatimaru and Elcctrakoff also arrived on Saturday. After working at Ellerslio on Saturday Vice-Admiral was walking very short, and the services of Dr. Ring had to be obtained. An examination disclosed an injury to tho foot, and there is very little probability of tho son of Multiform being seen out at the meeting. WAIRARAPA R.C. ACCEPTANCES. Masterton, December 23. .
