The twelfth annual North Island championship meeting, conducted by the Wan»anui District Rifle Association, will be held on -the Putiki rifle range on Friday and Saturday next. The caoital value of the Wangamu East Borough' District, which is to be absorbed by tho Wonganui Borough as from January 1. has increased during the past year bv £22, and is now approximately of the annual value of £20.E00. The meeting of the Wanganui East Borough Council, held on Friday last, was probably the last which will lie held by that body. Prior to merging into the. larger borough, councillors torik occasion to paw a vote- of appreciation of Mr. A. Burtons work while he had occupied the Mayoral chair, and the hope was expressed that he would, hlsr on, be Mp.tot of Wanganui. Mr. J. P. ilolloway, who has acted as.Town Clerk, and borough treasurer during tho last three and a half years, was also accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
