ANOTHER BURGLARY ATTEMPTED
„ —-—e CITY SHOP ENTEEED. Wellington has experienced an unusual run of burglaries in the last month, and on Sunday morning another attempt to misappropriate private property was made. At about half-past one on Sunday morning a constable on duty in Willis Street noticed a ladder reared from Messrs; Edward Anderson and Co.'s yard to a window in Messrs. Wardell Bros.' grocery shop. Subsequent investigations showed' that the place had been entered, and that attempts had been made to force the safe 'and cash register. The handle of the safe door had been broken off, but the safe had not been opened. The cash register, too, had not been, relieved of any of its contents. The detectives who are investigating the matter have good reason for believing that the miscreant was disturbed in his operations.
