CRICKET MATCHES.

TOURING TEACHERS. GAME AGAINST WELLINGTON. HOME HEN BEATEN. The match between Wellington and New South Wales Teachers was concluded on the Basin Kesorve on Saturday afternoon. Tho rc3ult was a win for the visitors on tho first innings by 37 runs. In their second innings the Now South Welshmen showed juuch-iwprovcd form, and knocked the Wellington bowling about considerably. When stumps were dnuvii at G o'cloolc tho visitors had been batting all the afternoon, and had inado 25S runs at a cost of six wickets.

Barnes, who went in first, and made top scoro (78>, gave a lino display, which confirmed his confreres' opinion that ho would bo their bust batsmen if ho hud opportunity for regular practice. His scoro included eight fours and ono six. Harvey, too, was very free- with tho bowling. His score of 53 not out included a six and seven fours. The visitors put on 40 before their first wicket (Myers) fell. At 51 they had two wickets down, but 06 runs were added before tho fall of the next. Tho bowling of tho Wellington trundlcrs, as is evident by the scores, did not trouble the batsmen much. Saunders was kept on tho longest, but, although as the afternoon wore on, lie kept the runs down fairly well, he only captured one wicket. Tho bowling of Sonthall steadied the. batsmen considerably, but he, too, only effected one capture. It was expected that after the first few batsmen had been disposal! ofSannders would get rid of the remainder at little cost; but the team did not display any tail on this occasion. N.S.W. Teachers.
