CITY AND N.S.W. TEACHERS. DUBIOUS WICKET, ONE VISITOR MAKES A SCORE. On llio collego ground yesterday afternoon tlm visiting Xw South Wales Teachers' eleven met u team representing the Wellington teachers. Complaints wore made on both sides about the state- of the wicket. It was very treacherous, nnd the visitors' could not play with confidence. Their howling was not nearly so good as our senior standard, and their fielding was also loose. Tho wicket accounted for two or throo of tlio visitors' first bats going out cheaply. Harvey is apparently the "hope" of the visitors' fcido. His score yesterday was just one under the century. Ho played very well, 1111(1 most oi' his shots were forward hard drives. His score included (juito a number of fourcrs and fivers. It seems that the visitors have not quite" got off their sea legs yet, for they aro /still ft little unsteady in their movements. Play ceased at G. 30 p.m., and it was decided to consider tho match a draw. The Heathcote Williams Shield cricket match was concluded to-day, Christchurch Boys' Jlligh School defeating Auckland Grammar School by 10 wickets. Auckland made 173 in- their second innings. Smith took seven wickets for 49,_ and in tho whole match lis took IS wickets at a cost of five runs each. Christchurch Boys' High School,. in their second .innings, made 65 for the loss of no wickets. HAWKE CUP MATCH. Wanganui, December ID. Tho Hawke Cup representative match, South Taranaki V. Wanganui, was concluded to-day on a bowlers' _ wicket, Wanganui winning by an innings and 394 runs. South Taranaki's second innings produced 33. Berriau' took five wickets for eighteen and Holland three for eleven.

HAWKE CUP SERIES. (By Telesrapli.—Press Association.) Wanganui, December IS. A cricket representative match—the first of the series for the Hawke'Cupwas commenced, here- to-day in fine weather. The teams were South Taranaki and Wanganui. The former batted first on a perfect wicket, but were ijuUkiy (iisp<e-cii of for 26. C. Holland and Bernnu were unplayable, the former securing five wickets for fourteen, and Berami lour for seven. Wanganui occupied the wickets for 190 mintues, during which time they compiled the fine score of 453. Orion contributed an. admirable 147, batting superbly. The other principal scorers were: Cathgate 66, Butterworth 47, Furrie 37, Bemau 35, Holland 23, β-jivurd IS, Tilyard 15, Barrett 16 not out, and Murchio 16. Only one batsman failed to reach double figures. The match will be concluded to-morrow. HEATHCOTE WILLIAMS SHIELD. Auckland, December 18. A. cricket match for-the Heathcote Williams Shield between Christckurch Boys' , High School and Auckland Grammar School began this morning in fine weathed on the Domain. Cricket Ground. The Aucklandei'3 batted first, and scored 89 runs in tho first innings. Christchurch High School made 198 in their first innings.' Guinney was the highest scorer with 74. Nisbet took two wickets for two runs, and M'Arfliur four for 7. BOYS' LEAGUE. The following -have been selected to represent the junior grade in a match against Weraroa Boys' Training Farm at Levin on Now Year's Day.—H.
