WEEK-END CABLEGRAMS.

MESSAGES TO ENGLAND AT NINE- ' PENCE A WORD. The Telegraph Office announces that week-end telegrams may be exchanged between the United Kingdom and tne Dominion of New Zealand on the following conditions: — The telegrams must b& written in plain language, and will ba subject to the same regulations as are applicable to deferred, ordinary cable telegrams, except that when the telegrams are to be posted.frnm a cable station they must bear a full address. In such a case a code indicator address cannot be accepted. Week-end telegrams may be lodged at a telegraph office on a Saturday not later than 8 p.m. Senders of such telegrams desirous of not incurring the inland transmission rate of one-halfpenny per word, may post such telegrams to the cable station at Auckland or Wakapuaka. Postage must be prepaid, and letters containing such telegrams must be posted to reach tho cable office not later than 8 p.m. on a Saturday. Week-end telegrams are accepted subject to being dispatched at the convenience of the cable authorities between midnight on Saturday and Monday morning, other traffic being given preference. Delivery of week-end telegrams in the country, of destination will bo by means of posting from the cable terminal office by night mail on Mondays, unless the sender desires to pay the inland telegram rate of the country of destination, in which case the message will be telegraphed to the office of destination, and delivery made from there on Monday evening at the hour fixed for the outgoing of eeneral night mails.

The inland tclecrram rate in the United Kingdom is one-halfpenny per word. The cable charge for wonk-end telegrams is M. per word, subject to n minimum charge of 18s. In addition, where the sender desires the telegram to bo transmitted, over New Zealand lines, an inland rate of one-halfpenny per word must bo paid.

Week-end telegrams received in New Zealand will be nosted to the addressees nt midnight on Mondays,
