THE OPIUM TRAFFIC.
■ A WARNING TO CHINA. By Telesraah—Press Associa-tion-CoDyrisht (Rec. December 19, 0.5 a.m.) Shanghai, December 18. The accumulation of opium stoclcs, valued at twelve million sterling/ has, in consequence of China's systematic obstruction of the foreign opium trade, created a serious situation. It is believed that China desires to repudiate the Anglo-Chinese Treaty. Sir John Jordan, British Minister at Peking, has therefore warned China that unless observance is assured, he will be compelled to call the attention of the British Government to the subject.
