ADMIRALTY LORDS.
STRANGE RUMOURS.
A SENSATIONAL STATEMENT.
ISy Tolcßraph—PrcsH As-socio/tion-Oopyridit London, December 15.
Tho "Morning Post" says it has high authority for stating that tho Board of Admiralty recently tendered its resignation in connection with tho pay of tho men of tho Navy.
Mr. Winston Churchill, tho paper says, consulted tlio Premier, and as a result tho ihcrcaso in pay was announced. Sir Francis Bridgeman, First Sea Lord, refused tho honour of Admiral of tho Fleet.
Tho "Observer" authoritatively states that illness compelled Kir Francis Bridgeman to bo absent, for weeks when tho international situation was critical, and that Mr. Churchill had no alternative but to suggest his resignation. Tho "Observer" adds that the statement Hint Sir Francis Bridgeman declined promotion, is absurd, NAVAL RESERVISTS. SPEECH BY MR. CHURCHILL. London, December 15. Mr. Winston Churchill, in addressing London naval reservists, said that tho Admiralty would use the reservists, if necessary, in the front line. Tho country was now passing through a picturesque period. Prosperity was great, and our colonies were drawing closer. Ambassadors were now meeting to narrow tho scopo of war. The Navy was playing a vital part, and doing more than any other agency to bind the colonies together, leading not merely to national safety, but to Imperial union. TWO-POWER STANDARD. INCLUSION OF OVERSEA VESSELS. London, December 15. The "Observer" advocates a two-Power standord, inclusive of all overseas veseels. CANADA'S OFFER. A GERMAN OPINION. (Rec. December 16, 9.55 p.m.) Berlin, December 16. Tho "North German Gazette" regards tho Canadian proposal as a thoroughgoing and patriotic appeal.
