,NEW SCHEME IN. PREPARATION. Each.member of the' City Council ,hes received a letter from an interested party, stating that the' tramway service which ■the council proposed to run on Christmaii Day is a direct violation of the agreement entered into between tho council and the men. Inquiry was made yesterday by a Dohtnioi? reporter, who ascertained that the statement wag quite correct, and that the proposed service would not be run (which tho Mayor had already announced). Mr. W. H. Morton, chairman of the Tramways Board, stated yesterday that a service for Christmas Day was being arranged, which would not contravene the agreement, and which would, he thought, bo satisfactory to: tho public. That service would be advertised next week, in ample time for the publio to become acquainted with the time-table for the day. ■
