MOTOR-CYCLING.
HILL-CLIMBING TEST. A hill-climbing competition was held on the Paekakariki Hill on Saturday afternoon by tho Wellington Motor Cycling Club. The top portion only of the hill was used, and this added considerably to the interest in tho contest, as the.riders were in sight of the large number of 'spectators from start to finish. The short distance, about a mile, did away with the usual long wait between the finishes of the competitors, who were sent up singly. Results are as follow.— Class A—Motor-cvcles up to GOO c.c: A B. Collins (31 Triumph), 7sec.,- lmin. 483-ssec.,l; C. Y.Sutherland(3l Triumph), scr., lmin. 51 4-ssec., 2; — Saunders (3J Rover), 15sec, 2min. 27 3-SS3C, 3. , fastest time, C. V. Sutherland. Class B—Motor-cycles over GOO c.c.: H. Gastein (7 Indian). 7sec, lmin. 47 l-ssec, 1; R. S. Bender (7 Indian), scr., Imm. 50 4-sssc, 2; — Lawrie (6 Zenith), 15sec, lmin. 53 3-ssec, 3. Fastest time, R. S. Bender.
