Sir George Reid, High • Commissioner' for Australia,'in his evidence before the Parliamentary Committee, which' is inquiring into the- wireless oontract between the General Post Office and tho Marconi .Company, said that Australia liad adopted her own wireless system, which was capable of communicating 2000 miles. He was not possessed of any knowledge of tho reasons on which his Government's attitude towards the Marconi Company had been based. Australia had led the way in the matter of the wireless chain, and had given Sir Edward Grey, Secretary for Foreign Affairs, an undertaking to erect a station capable of workingin the Imperial chain. 1 ,' '
