(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Walhl, December 13. The adjourned inquiry into the cir- ; cumstances connected with tho death of Frederick Geo. Evans, who died as a re- I suit of injuries received during the dis- ; turbances between tho workers and the : strikers at Waihi on November-12, was resumed to-day before Mr. Wallnutt, cor- i oner. Mr. J. R. tundon appeared for the rel- ' otives of deceased and Mr. Selwyn Mays ' on behalf of the Crown. Mrs. Cottio, one of the women in the i hall when the shooting commenced, stated | that she had had a clear view of Evans \ from tho time be left the back of tho ; hall. She said that there had been no weapon in his hand and she heard no J report excepting the shots inside the hall. : She said that Evans was struck down by ' a constable, and tho crowd afterwards ga- ' thered round and assaulted him and at. tempted to lynch him.' If other witnesses : stated differently they would be wrong. Tho inquest is proceeding. . J
