SYDNEY ST. PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH.
SIXTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY. The nnniversary services of the Sydney Street Primitive Methodist Church wore successfully celebrated yesterday. At the morning service, tho Rev. H. Oottom gave a short address to the young people, ;,,nd o-lso delivered' an appropriate sermon from Genesis XXVIII, 17, "This is nouo other, than the House of God." A very large congregation assembled in tho evennng, when, the Rov. P. J. Cossum conducted tho service His discourso was based on I Corinthians 111, 11, "For other foundation can no man lay than, is laid, which is Jesus Christ." The preacher emphasised the importance of characterbuilding, and how thnt the teachings of Christ were one of tho elements in a high and noble character. Anthems were rendered by tho choir at botli services. In the evening Mr. T. C. Newton contributed a solo, Miss Jean Nicholas officialing nt the organ. Special interest centred in the celebrations, as owing to the consummation of Methodist union in the near future and the rearrangement of Church work at Tliomdpii, this will bo the hist anniversary to be held in tho historic buildings associated with Primitive Methodism in that part of the city. The Sydney Street Church was the first Primitive Methodist Church lo be established in \Vcllinglon Province, and wimv notable ministers of tho connexion have been stationed there at various periods.
