PROFESSIONAL ORCHESTRA.

V The Wellington Professional Orghestra, which has given a series of remarkably Rood concerts during the year now closing, gave their final performance m the presence of a crowded audience at the Town Hall last evening, tinder the able conductorship of Mr. Herbert Bloy, the orchestra has reached a pitch of excellence equal, if not superior, to any permanent orchestra whioh the city has ever possessed, and in. the selection of music havo ehovra enterprise and courage altogether commendable and a degree of imisicianly | finish .which augurs well for the future of the organisation. It is to be hoped that the band will hold together, in order that it may continue to illumino and dolight in the entrancing sphere of orchestral music. The programme last evening was selected from pieces which havo been plaved during the year. They included the Berlioz March from The' Damnation of Faust," the overture to Weber s opera "Oberon," the fantasia Stir les Alpes" (Terschak), and Moszkowski s delightful suite "In Foreign Parts, in. which the composer cloverly characterises the dominant features in .the music ot Russia, Italy, Germany, Spain, Poland, and Hungary. The orchestra, a woll-ba - anced body with a good tone, played admirably under the baton of Mr. Bloy. Mr. J F. Woodward was the leader.
