* —~— COMPULSORY TRAINING. By Telegraph—Precs Association— Copyright Sydney, Deoember 7. Lord Islington in an interview referred to the general prosperity of New Zealand. Compulsory training, ho said, was now on an established footing. ' There was still a certain amount of resistance, but amongst a diminishing minority. Tho hostility to training camps was also dying out. Lord Islington said he was much impressed with New Zealand and its people. Few countries in the world could equal such scenic grandeur. New Zealand was such a pleasant place that ho was 'loth to leave. The Maoris were a wonderful people, and adapted themselves to civilised life in a wonderful way.
