The tennis match between tho visiting British team and. New South Wales was ; continued in bright, moderately ; warm weather. The courts were considerably faster, and play all round showed a great improvement on Friday's matches, ' portions being really.first-oloss, andl. arousing enthusiasm. . -..'■./.. : ■■_ - The game between Beamish (Britain) and Wright (New South Wales)' was interesting. Beamish's back-hand play was remarkably forceful. His accurate service was effective occasionally, but was; marred' by numerous double-faults. ; - •■ Parke, who won both his singles i n , th f Davis Cup contest, opened badly against. A. B. Jones (New South Wales), the latter taking the first three games. Parke had plenty of pace,, but hisJength was bad. He recovered, however, and took tho next five games, and the tenth game. - The .second .set was splendidly contested. : Jones was noticeable for acourate, fast shots, and for his net play. The eighth game produced several lengthy brilliant rallies. ' . In the doubles, Dixon and Beamish v. Wright and A. B. Jones,' was the feature of the day's play.;' The Englishmen played; well, : but, the New South Wales players were brilliant, surpassing : themselves. Jones was especially good, \ making few mistakes. His net play and > placing were again admirable. Wright • ably seconded himj.being especially good overhead. Dixon's ■ volleying was very powerful, and proved a splendid scoring stroke. .Wright and Jones won.tlw first / set, and in the second were practically ' unable fo go wrong. ".;' ■
