INCREASES IN TAXATION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Perth, December 6. Tho Premier, Mr. Scaddan, has introduced the Taxation Bill. It provides for an. all-round land tax of t penny in tho pound on the unimproved value, abolishing tho halfpenny tax on the improved values. Tho income tax is fixed nt fourpence in tho pound up to ,£SOO, rising thenco a penny for each additional je2so to i£2500. Over .£SOOO the tax is a shilling. Absentees are to pay 50 per cent, extra and all companies a shilling in tho i! on not profits.

LOAN FOR ,£5,600,000. Perth, December 8. The Loan Bill providing for .£5,600,000 has passed both Houses. It includes items covering the establishment of State hotels, sawmills, brickyards, milk supply, and a Stato steamer service. In reply to a question, tho Premier, Mr. Scaddan, considered it inadvisable to float .the loan in Australia. The Colonial Secretary informed the Counail that the Agent-General had advised that the loan could bo placed at reasonable terms, but if delayed beyond Monday the State would be forestalled.
