On the first clause of the Welsh Disestablishment Bill, fixing the date for it to come into operation- as July 1 in the year after the passing of the Act, the churchmen fought hard to defer the date of the operation l for two years. The Government agreed to six months. The application of the guillotine lopped off four pages of amendments, and Clause 2 passed without discussion. . ISOYAL INTEREST IN BENEFICES. London, December 5. The Home Secretary, Hon. Reginald MlCenna, has announced that a King's Message will be placed at the disposal of the House of Commons during the consideration of the Disestablishment Bill, showing- its effect on the lloyal interest in the Bishoprics and other benefices in Wales.
