Campbell waa appointed to succeed Mr. Poynton as Secretary of the Treasury. • Mr. George Frederick Colin Campbell is .. . at present Commissioner of Taxes. • He was : born in 1858, and was eduoated at ,-Nelson, College. .He passed tho Civil Service examinations 1874, and entered the ■ .'Service in August of that.year as cadet • in Public Works "Department; transferred to Justice Department 1877, iuid to Land Tas Department 1879; appointed to Dei puty Commissioner of Taxes 1894; Deputy Valuer-General 1896; Dtiputy Adva-noes to Settlers' Office Superintendent 1896; succeeded to position of Valuer-General 190-t; passed, military examinations and entered volunteer - service as subJientenant, Naval Artillery, Wellington, 1S87; captain 1894; lieut.-colonel Wellington Garrison' Artillery Division, 1902.
