ENTER-SOLOMONS AND CO. To-day—Wellington Centres' Carnival. To-day.—Opening Mnranui Surf Club. To-day's Carnival and the Manly Cracks, This afternoon, at the To Avo baths, tho tlureo Manly swimmers—"Tod" Solomons, H. M. Itay, nnd S. Riddington— will inako their appearnnco at tho carnival given by tho Wellington Swimming Centre. Tho swimmers arrived by tho Maunganui from Sydney on Wednesday, and tho fino sunshine which prevailed enabled them to seo Wellington at its best. Oil Wednesday attemoon tho visitors journeyed to the To Aro baths, whero they had a "dip," and naturally enough they found the water somewhat cold. To-day, however, will bo tho day on which local swimmers will bo called upon to do their utmost. Tho visitors will compete in all tho events, and in each' case will start off tho scratch mark. The firet event will commence at 2.50 p.m. In spito of tho fact'that tho water has not been so alluring as it ought to bo at this time of. tho jear, swimmers should put aside their dislike for "tho cold," and endeavour to do justice to tho oentre.
The Best of the Day's Events. Tho teams relay race, of 200 yds., will bo the . most interesting event on the programme. Thero are, in all, about, ten teams competing in this event, these including the Sydney team. The teams are as. follow:— Sydney team—L. Solomons, H, M. Hay, S/ Riddington, and A. M. Tartakover. Swifts Club—Hi JenkinGon, G. Hampson, G. M'Grath, and C. V. Fordham. G.P.O. Club—C. Mathieson, L. Forgie, T. Duffy, and F. Wilton.
Worser Bay—H. C, W. Blick, L. CarMichael, H. Silver, and P. Wilton. Old Boys' Club (three teams):—No. 1— Levy, Capper, Patterson, and Hopkirk. No. 2—Wise, Freeth, Turnbull, and Newtoil, No. 3—Newman, Sobieson, Smith, and Higgio. Wellington. Club— Crowther, O'Neill, M'Carlic, and Murrell. Thorndon Club:—No. I—F. Roberts, C. Brico, R. Neilson, and M'Nab. No. 2— T. King, Bullard, Shechy, and-Watson. Lyall Bay Surf Club—Mullins, Radford, Forth, and Fraser.
Notes About Swimmers. It is understood iliat the Thorndon Club's No. 1 team for the 200 yds. relay race to-day will comprise men who arc recorded to be able to do fifty yards under 30sec. The visiting Manly swimmers are to spend to-morrow at Lyall Bay, where they arc i:o give exhibitions, of life-saving, etc. Whilst at the Bay the visitors will 1» tho guests of the Lyall Bay Surf Club.
