' BARRIER TO AMERICAN INFLUENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Toronto, December 4. Mr. Henri Bourassa, M.L.A., states that oniy the Frenoh-Canadians have prevented the Amerioanisation of Canada. The prevalence of the French language formed the chief barrier against the. absorption of American ideas and methods. If the English language was forced upon the French-Canadian the result would be not to Anglicise him, but to Americanise him.
