Time; lmin. 3sec. NOTES ON THE RACING. • (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Woodville, December 4. The summer meeting of the. Woodville Jockey Club was "summer" . in. name only. The heavy rain of late had left the course in a.holding condition and though the weather held off, a keen wind blew all day making overcoats necessary. Backers began well with two successful events, but after that.trouble was in store for them, and the first choice on the machine was regularly beaten. The big handicap was a splendid race and resulted in one. of the) finest finishes ever seen on the coarse. . The first and second horses in the maiden event —Hamurana and Gazalie —wero backed in that order on the machine. Divinia ; did not give so much trouble at the post as usual and she was on terms with the field as they left the barrier. Martlet, a speedy little filly by Jlartello, ■was the quickest to begin, and she led Hamurana, Hautu, and Divinia and Primus to the turn into the straight. Here Dseley gave the favourite her head and she came on and won nicely. Gazalie finished very fast again and just beat Divinia out of second money. Primus was fourth. Holy well was suffering from a chill, and Abercoed seemed unable to go the paoe in the first part. .Bravest was the second favourite to materialise on the day. The full brother to Corazon saw a short price in tho hurdles and, aided by one or two of tho others, loafing by the wayside, ho was enabled ' to win without being extended. Xescot is not ready yet, but Acuia ran very badly. Bercola finished strongly, but on tho whole his rider was not seen to advantage on him. Bauriro showed pace for ten furlongs, but he wns very tired by the time that the turn for homo had been negotiated. A really first-class horse was unearthed in the Grandstand Hack Race, which went to San Wai—a big hoavily-toprsd horso by San Fran from Waipurata. " Unfortunately he is not too found, and may go out at any time. To-day he. .iumrcd out well on the outside and, pulling hard, soon ran to the front. Once there, nothing troubled him. antl he ran homo very comfortably, but still pulling hard, Decloy. his rider, being unable to bring him up until he had irailopcd considerably over a mile. At Feilding last week he ran unplnced ra that the rare thore roust Invc improved him n (trrat deal. St. S:rf. Master Tupuhi, and Jloajvline wove nil well backed to-day, but nothing hud a chnnce with the , winner, who is a member of i V. H. ColoUo's t<?nm. A rnra "turn-up" cim::? to lisrhi in l!>e i big handicap, when tho littlc-fanei'-d ! Mnst?! , T-adrlo won by ii now from Sir Solo with .Ngaiimarn'dose uii. and tho remainder in n cluster. Sir Roln wns a hot favourite and jumped out well. Eoutino . cut across as the barrier re?c pnd clowd up. Master Laddo, Mira, British Maid and Ariom had taken charge as they passed the stand, with tho favourite next. At the six furlongs, British Maid ran to the front with Seator.dale, Ariom, and Sir Solo in that order. Sir Tristram took up a position alongside- British Maid, at the half-mile, ami here Mira a.lso put in a run on the outside. As they ran into tho straight Hie favourite sot blocked, and Master Lriils'n raced to the front on the outside, while Ngatimaru also put in n claim. Halfway down tho running the favourite gut clear, and set sr.il after thfl others, and, after a splendid struggle, Master Laddo passed the pnst n no;c to tl>i> Rood. Mongaroa. Sir Tristram, and Mira were all in a line right on the quarters of Ngatimaru. Another big dividend wa« paid n«t on Royal Simon, who annexed the Flying Hack Handicnp from n rank outsider in Boronia, with the favourite in third place. Tho lajt-named Rot a v»ry bad run. and, but for tins, would undoubtedly have scored. Manakau. Eocene, and Axis were prominent at different stages.

of Iho iournoy, but llio winner was alwnye well placed, and, though handled in anything but nn uriifllio manner, ho won by a head. . , Nngfttivo created a nurpriso in the Boi. oii(jli Handicap by winning cornfortablj from Muleteer and Ascftlon. Loch llabin, Thr/ive, and Mynteriach were all heavily MipixirUid, lint 'J'liravc was tho only onp to make any r-ort of a showing. Ascalon iiinde tho running to the turn, where Nfjjativo run up to him. ami went, on by lilniMilf, '/'lie winner was a "quiet tip from Taratuhl, whc.ro he is trained, as he lind_ Unten '(/eapuki in a gallop beforo fwivinj; home. When running promincnlly at the turd, Lord Itonown broke a btnrid-vfs&il, nnd li!»d to bo pulled up. Unckors wwt> astray once astain v/lidii they made Lucerne (ridden by Dr. Paget) ffivdlirlto in the Welter flfick. At tho st-nrt: the (avolirilo chopped across the field fttid bunched up tho runners. Merrifi Vnlot war. noon in command, and ran down the back, clear of I'lettweek and J'tacernaker. The. two last-named were in trouble nt the bottom of thn straight, where Lucerne ran info second place. Hlio, however, ran away from tho whip and both To/i Not* and Kangikapua headed her in tho run home. After his fjood showing in the Feilding Stakes, it camo as no surprise to find Vibration a warm order in the Electric Jfn/ndteip, in v.'hich he had nearly two .ilone less to carry. The favourite and . Longatep gave a 'lot of bf/ther at tho post, and tho Intter'-was left standing. Crown Pearl and Diavolo were prominent early, bnt, three furlongs from home, Vibration moved iip, and was first into the straight. Stalling off challenges by St. :' Toney ami Lady Volga, ho won ail out by a neck. Crown Pearl was fourth. ACCEPTANCES FOR SECOND DAY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Woodvllle, December 4.
