Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., presided, and. the other-members present were: Messrs. Welsh, Cudby, Ryder, and Cotton. The following transfers of licenses were granted :—Taita Hotel, P. S. Bryan to ,i\ P. Tutte; Victoria Hotel, Pefone, E. L. Barnes to J. M'Kechnie. A temporary transfer of the Family Hotel, Lower. Hutt, nas granted from H. C. Lawson to R. Quinn.' ' „'""'' HUTT COURT. The monthlv sitting of the Lower Hutt Court was held yesterday, Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., was the presiding magistrate.' Patrick Ooflcy, a Native, was charged with failing to send two of his children to school regularly, and was fined 25., and costs 7s. - The following fines were imposed on owners of wandering horses:—J. V. Dyke, 10s. and costs 95.; Alex. Sammons and Thomas Burt 20s. each/ and.- costs 9s. ; Albert Pect, 10s., costs 95.-The , -alternative'in each case- , was fixed at 18 hours' imprisonment. ••..•; •.'■.'■ ' - For failing to attend parades and render personal service (being duly enrolled Territorials), Harold Alexander, Samuel S. Fawcett, George William Burns, Leonard Saunders, Ernest Burt, and Francis Neil, were each fined lfls., with costs 7s. Mr. Ayscm", who appeared for Alexander, submitted that his client had received six summonses, and was charged with six different couuts. Counsel argued that, the Act did not specify the separate charges, and therefore his client should only answer one charge. The other defendants were in the same position. The bsnch upheld the contention, and the remaining five charges were withdrawn by order of the Court. Judgment for plaintiff was given in tha following undefended caFes:—Commissioner of Taxes v. Peters and Son (Mr. Wilson), a claim for <£6 foiv damage done to furniture during removing, judgment was given for plaintiff for £b, with court costs lJs., leave to defend fee .£1 Iβ., solicitor's fea £Z 65.-, and witnesses' expenses 15s. In a judgment summons case. , Henry Hurrell was ordered to pay Timothy. Coffey 255. on or before December 18, in default three'days' imprisonment. JUNIOR CLUB SPORTS. The third evening sports' meeting, under the auspices of the Petone Junior Club, was held on the local Recreation Ground last evening, Results were as under:— ' 220 yds. handicap—First heat: Smith, 24yds., -1; W.
