Mr. Blease, Governor of South Carolina, in speaking at the Governors' Convention at Richmond, Virginia, defended lynching when "black brutes" attacked white women. It was only necessary to get the right man arid then those concerned neither needed nor should they receive a trial. Mr. Blease said he would never order the State militia to shoot lynohers. Other Governors attacked Mr. Blease's attitude. .
