ENTERTAINMENTS.
THEATRE ROYAL.
: The new programme which, was inaugurated on Monday night ■ last at the Theatre Royal is a popular one, judging from two crowded houses. ''liletsoe's Crimson Ramblers" appear to be ns popular, as over, and manage to amuse their audience for the whole of the first part of the entertainment'. Miss Bessie Slaughter is a new.arrival in Wellington, and has already established herself as a singer worth listening to, at the Theatre Royal. Black and fironte are likewise newcomers, end they managed to keep, the fun bubbling with a series of comic' songs and grotesque dances. This programme will be repeated to-night.
. RINK PICTURES. The current programme at the Vivian Streat Rink is a very interesting one— ;tha Balkan pictures especially. "A Help-.' ing Hand" is a neatiy arranged comedy in which a young acrobat performs some marvellous 'and amusing turns. "Handsomer Man" is another good comedy, and features the inimitable Maurice Costollo. Tho rest of the items are also worth seeing, and make up a refreshing programme. The pictures at tho Rink will be discontinued after this week. The regular change will be screened on Thursday.
. THE NEW THEATRE. ! 'The Ijion Tamer's Revenge" attracted large numbers to tho New Theatre yesterday. The number is a thrilling circus drama. Among tho other pictures are: "A Romance of tho Coast" and "Down .Through, the Ages," both particularly fine films.
THE ICING'S THEATRE. - "The Pilgrim's Progress," ly the Ambrosio Company is the foremost item this week at the King's Theatre. John Bunyan's famous allegory lias been read by most English-speaking people, and therefore the picture adapted from it has to be very well carried out to escape drastic criticism. The Ambrosio film,, however, leaves nothing to be desired, . and they are to be congratulated upon, their daring production. "Two Battles" is a fine drama by the Vitagraph Company, and "The Awakening of Jones," by the same company, is a most amusing comedy. The other items.are also above the average and make up an unvsually excellent programme. .
