Mr. Dixon, captain of the British team, said the victory was duo to Parke. He eulogised the hospitality shown to the team in Melbourne.

Mr. Parko paid a tribute to the sporting attitude of the spectators. Ho never played before such a sporting crowd, which applauded good play on both sides equally. If Brookes and Wilding are to play in the next contest he cannot see any hopo for Britain holding tho Cup, and it would come back. Australia had some good schoolboys coming on, and he mentioned three—O'Hara Wood and Patterson and Anderson. If the Cup camo back to Australia, it would bo a long time before it left again. Sir. Beamish, of the English team, commented on the good sportsmanship shown, especially after Britain had won. "It really made us feel," he added, "as if you were glad we had won."

VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND. Melbourne, December 3. The British lawn tennis players were widely congratulated on their victory. After their match against New South Wales they will meet Queensland on December 13 and 14, and will thence proceed to Now Zealand. The chances of sending a team to England to recover the Davis Cup is already being discussed. Brookes and Heath will probably be able to go, but business will prevent Dunlop joining them. It is thought it will be possible to secure Wilding's services.
