LECTURES FOR CONSTABLES.

This is the latest thing in the way of extension lectures: Paris is about to educate its constables in the theory of police. Four separate series of lectures have been arranged, one for each "brigade" of tho criminal police, aiju the fifty students of the first brigade have just had their first lesson (says the London "Daily Telegraph" of October 9). The chief clerk of the identification office—it is M. Bertillon who has organised the series— explained to his "class" t'he workings of the Scotland Yard of Paris .in as many of their ramifications as the time permits of his doing, and presently tho constablestudents will be made acquainted with tho principles of tho law which Ihey carry out. After they havo assimilated as much of tho theory of tho matter as they may, the "agents" will sit at the feet of ChiefInspector Henry, who will give them eight lessons on practical "policemanship," employing a "method entirely new." From .11. Fleury they will go on to Assistant-Superintendent David, whoso course will treat of identification. Having stored their minds with the sayings of tho professors of these four courses they will visit M. Bertillon's little anthropometric museum and study his sys : tem of finger-prints. Then they will sally forth into the highways and by-ways.
