PIGS AS FERN DESTROYERS.

EXPERIENCE IN THE SOUNDS.

, Deferring to" a visit to Messrs. Tipne'r and Sous' farm in Wait'ata Bay, Pelorus Soniid, our travelling'correspondent 1 says,: "On the station I .saw the splendid work which' is. Leihg done by pigs in eradicating fern. I was shown two hillside paddocks, now'in good grass, which previously were heavy fern, and now not a sign of it is apparent. On my'visit some fifty pigs were tackling another big patch of fern. It seems, that the pigs must have a certain amount of other teed than the fern, as. too- much fern is binding. The necessary feed is found in the native grass which is making its way up the hillsides. I : found.many other farmers were using pigs for the same purpose, and in all cases they were well satisfied with the results!"
