ROWINQ.
PEARCE AND BARRT. Harry Pearce is now practically matched to row' Barry for the eculling championship of the world and aside in July next year (says a recent "Sydney Daily Telegrnph"). Pearce received a cable message from the champion offering ,£IOO expenses and naming July as the month for the' race, and Pearce has accepted. "Of course," Pearce explains, "iilOO is not sufficient for training expenses, but all things considered, I suppose I must; consider myself lucky,to get that. It simply means that I will have to raise some money locally to pay all my expenses. • I have a scheme which might work out all right. "The question of the date will probably not bo definitely settled till I arrive in England, but I regard it as likely to be at the end of the month. July will suit me all right; in fact, it is the month I would have chosen. I will leave here about March, so as to get in three solid months' training before the race." "I do not know what I will do about a trainer until I know the extent of my ex penses. Should I not be able to tako one with me, I might get 'Bossy' Philps, Arnst's trainer, or Albany to look after me." Pearce said he understood that the challenge for the Australian title had been withdrawn*
