The funeral of the late Mr. D. M'Gretror, of Masterton, took place yesterday afternoon, and was very largely attended by old settlers of the district. The Wellington Baptist Church has decided to 6end a call to the Rev. A. T. Brainsby, of the North Auckland Baptist Church, to fill the pastorate, in view of the early departure of the Rev. J. J. North to Canterbury. Owing .to a misunderstanding as to the date for the closing , of entries for the international and all-comers' tug-of-war, to take place in the Town Hall during the week commencing on Boxing night, the management (HaywaraV Picture Enterprises, Ltd.), have decided to extend the date until Saturday next, December 7. Within ninety minutes' ride (by motor car) of New- Plymouth is the new hostelry, recently built at an elevation of over SOOO feet on the eunny northern slope of Mount Egmont. The house is of concrete, splendidly furnished, lighted with electricity, nnd conducted on the lines of a first-class hotel by -Mr. J. P. Murphy, lately of The Hermitage, Meunt Cook. It is an ideal place to spend a holiday and to get rid of that tired feeling. Tho secretary of the Now Plymouth Expansion and Tourist. League will bo pleased to furnish, all particulars as to tariff, means of reaching the house, etc., on receipt of .ft postcard. Mr. A. Hannay (son of Mr. W. M.
