FATAL EFFECT OF DRINKING.^ Testerdajr afternoon ■Dγ;'■ M'Arthuiv 6.M., held an inquiry,..concerning. ; the, death of "Mary Sheehanj a woman about CO years fo'f. .age, who was found dead at 17 Elizabeth' Street on Saturday night. Dr. W.-IC. Fylfe deposed.that death was clue to haemorrhage into the stomach, due to alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. The coroner remarked that it was clear that deceased had been a dipsomaniac, and he returned a verdict in accord with the medical evidence. ......: OTJT SHOOTING CATS.- ,'■ James Myers, a Roseneath boy, Iβ yeare of age, is , at present in the hospital sufferin? from -the outcome of a "big game" expsdition.; ■He was out shooting cats with a rifle, and by some means shot himself in the foot; . . . CARTRIDGE -EXPLODED. .Albert Carnegie, of Lyall Bay, received a' rifle bullet in his hand yesterday. He was endeavouring to.extract the cap from a cartridg'o when the latter exploded. He was conveyed to the v Public Hospital, where the bullet was extracted.
