TARANAKI JERSEYS.
VIEWS OF AN. AUCKLAND JUDGE. The quality of the Jerseys in the Auckland province must be fairly good if a I 1? 9 taken through the comments of •1' ll 1, V PP' Auckland, who judged the' Jerseys shown at the Hawera A. and P. gathering. There were many people at the ring-side wlio were enthusiastic about the, stock shown, but Mr. Tapn was not one of them as a whole. In fact, he is reported to have termed them only an average lot,' and to have added that many of them would not nnd a place in an Auckland show. The best cows at Hawera could not, said 'Mr. Papp, be mentioned alongside Flora 11, or even Buttercup. The former, he believed, could go anywhere in the Dominion and bo in fy,class by herself. The • Auckland bulls, too, were, 'in his oninion, much superior to those shown nt Hawera. It is interesting, in view of the above, to notice tho' awards made by.'Mr. J. G. Harkness, wh.o judged the Jersey class nt Auckland last week. Mr. Harkness apparently held that Flora II was a good one, for he placed her first in the ' class for cows of three years, but Buttercup only got v.h.c. in this class.
