Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Eketahuna cattle fair as follows:—Wo had a very heavy yarding of cattle, upwards of 800 hoad being submitted to a la.rge attendance of the public, buyera being present .from-the Lower Valley, Woodvilla, Paliiatua, AH'rcdton, and surrounding. districts, and wu have to report a very successful sale. Most of tho cattle yarfied were in' good condition; the thrcn-year-olcT steers sold on behalf'of Mr.' 11. 'ff. Bridge, Tawataia, being, exceptionally well done, making the top price for threa-year-olds,. viz., £6 16=. Throo-ycar-olds, on account of Ivinson Bros., £6 9s. 6d;; four-ycai'-olds on account of. %■ H.~ Groves,' £7; four-year bullocks, on account ,of Y. H. Heckler, £8; and four-year-old do., on account of same vendor, £6 75.; three-year-old do., on account of If. Pedersen, £5 7s. 6d.; three-year-old do., on account of It. Thoinassn, £5 7e. 6d.; two-year steers, on account of W.'-H. Hecklor, £5: on .behalf of other vendors, to. £4 1%.- 6d.; yearling steers;, £3 165.; cightcen-months dairy hoilers, well into Jersey, made £4 18s. 6d.; yearling ■ heifers, £2 15s. 6d. to £4 3s. 6d.; flfteen r montha heifore, £3 to £3 2s. 6d.; eigUteen-months loiters, up to £3 12s. 6d.; two-year heifere, £3 13s. 6d. and £2' 15s. 6d.; dairy cows, .£4; fat, cows. £6; springing heifers, £6 10s.; bulla, £2 lite, to £3.
Mr. Newton King supplies the following weekly report:—On iloaday, November 25, at my ■Tlrenui yards, I had a big entry, with a .good attendance, of. the public. Springing heifers and cows were yarded in good numbers, selling under good competition at from £8 to £10 for best cows, aa<l £5 12s. 6d. to £6 "6. 6d. for second grades; dairy heifers, best, from £6 10s. to £9; smali, £4 to £5 155.; bidding opened very slack on store cattle, but improved rfuring the sale, the majority of the yarding being disposed of aa follows:—Choice fifteen-months 7 Jersey heifers, £5 Zs. 6<1.; grades, £i 2s. >6d. to £3 Bs. 6d.; good line fifteen to eightcen-mon-ths steers, £3 143. j small or coloured, £1 15s. to £2 10s.;'bulls, £2 17s. to £4; two and a half-year Shorthorn steers, £5 to , £5 45.; two and a halfyear coloured steers and stags, £3 Bs. 6d.'; empty two-year Jersey heifers, choice colours, £6 35.; grades, £3 18s. to £4 11s.; rat oows, £5 7s. 6d. to £6 Us.; fat heifora, £5 16a.; good store- cowe, £3 18s. to £4 135.; small, £3 Is. to £3 Us. 6d.; aged/£1 Bs. to £2 56.; empty Jersey cows, guaranteed sound, £5 to £5 10s.; forward bullocks, £7 10s.; f.m. ewes, wdth 100 per cent, good, well-Brown lambs, 20s. 6d.; two-tooth to six-tooth, ewos, with 75 nor cent, lambs, up to 235. On Tuesday, November 26, for my fortnightly Stratford sale, the heavy rain which prevailed all day prevented many vendors from yarding their cattle. Consequently I had only a small entry of about 500' head. The attendance also was considerably affected by the weather, few buyers being. present, and competition was quiet, but- after the Eale practically the whole of the yarding, with the exception of - the dairy oattle, was cleared as follows :—Pifteen-months grade Jersey heifers, £4 to £4 25.; yearling bulls, £1 to £2 65.; bulls for caraiing, from £3 3s. to £5 Is.; two and a half-year steers (with a bit of colour), £4 10s.; empty two and a. halfyear coloured heifers, £4 15s. to £5 2s. 6d.; grades, £4 ss. .to £4 Us.; fat cows, £5 10s. to £6 7s. 6d.; good store cows. £3 13s. 6d. to £4 12s. 6d.: small stores. £2 6s. 6d. to £2 35.; springing heifers, £6; dairy cows, £6 10s.; three to three and a half-year bullocks, £6 12s. 6d.
