At the Magistrate's Court on Saturday Henry Madden, Anthony Bannister, and Henry Thompson were remanded till De-cember-4. on., charge? of having stolen from the steamship Otaki two rolls of poplin, valued at ,£l2, belonging to the •New Zealand Shipping Company. Alfred Higginson was fined £2 for hav- ■ iug stolen a bangle valued at Jill 10s •the property pi' Huia Berkley. For. insobriety, Daniels was fined £2, and Michael M'Mahon wag fined 10s. Mary Johnstone anil Minnie Brown were sentenced to one month's imprisonment ,for having importuned passera-by in public streets. • Alfred Meagre, was ordered to pay 15s. per week towards the support of fo wife. Humphrey Stewart was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for having deserted the 6fceamer Kia Ora.
